This piece was inspired by ideas of displacement and the atmospheric distance between and longing for something lost. This piece was created over the span of several days in which viewers could watch the salt and forms placed along the gallery floor. This is a site-informed installation created at Art Produce Gallery.

Installation made of metal, rocks, kozo paper, thread, ink, and copper nails that span 17’ x10’. Rocks were collected from a site for this project and also cast in paper. The piece explores memory and what draws people back to place. 

This is a site-specific installation developed for the Ice Gallery. The title of the exhibition Lancea comes from the latin word “light spear”, which is a play on words for light and references the Rhus Lancea trees outside the gallery windows.

This piece was installed within the San Diego International Airport in Terminal 2 as part of the 2021 Exhibition Make Yourself At Home before it found its permanent home within the City of San Diego Art Commission’s public art collection. The project consists of 117 cast dirt and concrete doorknobs. The dirt was collected from 117 San Diego residents. Written memories of places that participants identified as home were collected and are available to read.

A state of change from one condition to another. To break down. To melt. To form into a solution. To fade away – disappearing gradually. Everything Dissolves is a collection of work that explores ideas of dissolution.

These pieces were developed through an intuitive process of material investigation, unearthing personal memories, and collaborating with the site. Concepts of perception, the inbetween, loss, and place are explored through materials and research. Simplistic materials and structures are used to capture emotions felt from life experiences and beauty from natural phenomena that can be found in the everyday. The repetitive forms and actions used within the work are meditative interventions in the space, seen as acts to heal or prayers.

This sculptural installation was inspired by personal memories of home, barriers, and the space between things physical and intangible. The shadow form is as important as the hand quilted steel sculpture. Cast shadows on the wall are sewn with fabric and thread and inlaid plaster teeth and buttons can be discovered by the viewer upon closer inspection.

Through this piece I explored the Jungian psychological concept of the unconscious layers of self, often referred to as the “shadow” or “dark side”. The dimensions of the work reference my personal body dimensions. All pieces individually stand on thin wire and are made of industrial materials. The form created by the shadow is as important as the tangible elements of the sculpture.

This sculptural installation is intended to be viewed in complete darkness, casting shadows on the surrounding walls. This work is inspired by Rebecca Solnit’s A Field Guide to Getting Lost and Plato’s Allegory of the Cave.

Small pieces of fabric dipped in concrete capture the weight of gravity. The small pockets created simultaneously hold the adjacent elements up while creating holding spaces for shadows.

This arm trap was inspired by the finger trap toy and is an investigation into play, power dynamics, and psychological states of humans in the context of communication.

This piece uses layers of poured cement and found sediments taken from a construction site in San Diego. Through this piece, concepts of geologic time and changes occurring in a place are explored.

This piece was created for the 50 Artist 50 Fish exhibition at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park, San Diego. It is inspired by the onsite koi ponds, interplay between a couple verses the singular person, and qualities of Japanese architecture and gardens.

This piece is designed to engage the sense of touch without the aid of vision. Participants are encouraged to place hands into the apparatus to explore the internal small sculptures with their hands. Sculptures are designed to engage imagination as explored only through the finger tips and to push past any initial fears of the unknown.

This is a series of digital photographs of performative works with built rock cairn sculptures. The work explores ideas around loss and absence.

This is a series of digital photographs of a woman in a bubble wrap garment. This body of work explores ideas of women’s role in society and trauma.

This crafted, sandblasted box was design and built to hold a collection of natural and manmade objects that have been worn away with time. The rotating top of the box allows the viewer to see as each object as it is revealed through rotation.

This hanging piece is created of deconstructed cardboard that are reconstructed into something new. The strips of cardboard in turn impact the surrounding environment by the shadow pattern that’s cast along the back wall.

This piece draws on the history of fences and effects of segregating and breaking up spaces. The shadows created by the four distinct panels visually cut into the gallery wall, while the evenly spaced nails create a chain-link shadow pattern on the surface of the painted wood panels.
