AbouT This Project

TreeLine is a temporary art installation among the trees within John P. Baca park in Linda Vista that includes a one day community engagement art event. This project intends to foster a sense of play, connection, and awareness of place through the formal and metaphorical qualities of line within this neighborhood park. A one day event will be held on July 16, 2022, which includes inclusive activities that connect participants through three different series of line explorations and engagements. These events are a free-parts play activity, community weaving reflection activity, and dance activity (as shown in photos below) that are designed to reflect and honor the resident populations based on conversation with community partners.

Participants are asked to bring a piece of fabric to the event which will be woven and quilted together into a final installation on view in the park starting August 20, 2022 through October 20, 2022. After being on display for two months, this piece will be removed and donated to an interested organization or organizations within the community so that the physical component of the art may live with the community after Park Social has concluded.

"Park Social is a citywide initiative introducing social-specific public art into San Diego's vast and varied park system. Held for six months in 2022, Park Social engages with a broad and constantly shifting audience of park goers, intervening and interacting in the social spheres of public parks and exploring topics ranging from environmental justice to belonging and social cohesion through responsive artistic projects".

TreeLine es una instalación de arte temporal entre los árboles dentro del parque John P. Baca en Linda Vista que incluye un evento de arte de participación comunitaria de un día.
